Shaikha Noor and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa presented a dichotomous collection this season, one that was equal parts teddy bear and arctic snow queen. An atmospheric quietness permeated all of the designs, as if winter’s blanket was muffling sound and sight; the monochromatic handwork was a shadow on the starkest whites, the corduroy and shaggy coats like blankets, and even the prints had a serendipitous ebb and flow to them, like small forest streams. I must say, the outfit I could see myself most in was Elizabeth Davidson’s corduroy suit and speckled coat, probably the coziest ensemble I saw this season. The duo experimented with geometries in their stiff structural peplums and their severely tailored black gown. The entire collection was in harmony with the savagery occurring outside, namely a blizzard that had buried cars and sidewalks and closed schools and companies down for two days. This was the more glamorous version of that. And a warm thank you to Noon by Noor for having me.
