Marissa Webb’s SS17 showcase was made for the self-made woman, much like self-made Webb herself, the silhouettes showing a refined feminine sensibility and generous with blasé sophistication. I was honored to be able to cover it, and definitely a little antsy after spending 2 hours backstage. A little awestruck over all the million-dollar (and million-follower, follow back?!) personalities backstage, I was ready to see the collection and models take the runway.
The clothes were a blend of the practicality and wearability of RTW with a bit of whimsy: classic silhouettes finished with ruffles, monochromatic tartan against burnt orange and electric chartreuse, projected light catching the flow of silk and cheekbones alike, crisp white blouses followed by timeless two-pieces in cream, everything grounded with a bit of leather.
