Rooftops

There's nothing like fresh air and an incredible view to cure an artist of their darned creative block. I hadn't been out shooting during finals (for understandable reasons) and needed some excitement to shake me out of my exhausted stupor--what better cure than to get away from it all, mentally and physically? We climbed up a modest 5 floors, low enough for some shade but high enough for an even balance of sky and skyline. With all these buildings, the buzzword floating around in my head was geometry, geometry, GEOMETRY! So that's what we went for, with Anne's slick straight hair and sharp bone structure, long and horizontally challenged garments, along with the killer view. I think a subconsciously OCD part of me put that idea into overdrive because I found a freakish number of parallel lines and right angles in most of the shots.

My stylist buddy Giovanni and I messed with draping and layering, favoring silk and slippery fabrics for the bulk of the outfits. Of course, my pattern fanatic tendencies made sure there was something breaking it all up, enter stripes, geometric florals, and a healthy bit of embroidery. And thank you Anne, for bringing it all to life, as we tumbled through windows and wandered down empty hallways, clambered down fire escapes and ran across rooftops.
