Every spring, you can find me hibernating in the dark with a cold towel on my face, the most heinous allergies keeping me MIA. Once the buds start blooming, the air becomes a dense cloud of pollen that my confused immune system can’t deal with.
But there I was, standing at the foot of a giant flower bed, ready to risk my livelihood for beautiful photos. How could I not; the rows of golden tulips and daises sprinkling the grass were begging to be shot in. So I styled florals on florals (on more florals) and set it against this vivid tulip garden. I put Anne in a modest, milkmaid, mid-calf pleated skirt, chiffon blouse neatly tucked in, a flowing pastel nightie and her grandmother’s mint blazer, ruffled sailor shirt, and paisley trousers. We got through a few boxes of matcha Pocky and pocket tissues as we shot the three outfits, keeping time by the ever-growing shadow of the windmill above us.
We ended the shoot at 5 with a few tulip-filled, laughing Polaroid selfies, before we sped off to Ocean Beach to shoot Part II at golden hour.
